In honor of Piper’s first birthday, I thought I’d share our most used baby adventure pieces! We are super minimalist when it comes to baby gear… but these are the things that have come with us on almost every single outing this past year! This isn’t one of those posts where you share just to share…. and I’m not saying I’ve got all the answers… but when it comes to a few essentials, here is what we used!
Our top 6 most used baby adventure gear
I’m telling you, this baselayer set right here has been a lifesaver so many times. We were gifted the 3-6 month size and Piper has worn it since she was 2 months old and i’m still squeezing her into it! EVERY adventure we have been on she’s had this one. Whether winter or summer. I’ve also used it quite a bit for warm weather babywearing even when we aren’t out adventuring!
I’m all about naps on the go and being flexible. And I’m also all about babies getting in good sleep! I found this white noise travel machine to be SO handy for adventure naps while hiking, camping, backpacking, stroller running and just everyday babywearing naps. It’s especially helpful to mask people’s voices or dogs barking. And actually, i’m using it right now while Piper sleeps on my back!
I am ALL about babywearing. And although I said I’m a minimalist when it comes to baby items, babywearing carriers is one area that I’ve found very helpful to have a variety of options that have different purposes. But, when it comes to adventures, I’ve found the quick buckles, multiple carrying options, and breathable mesh of the ergo to be the best! Perhaps we will upgrade to a hiking backpack when she’s 10-15lb heavier. But for now, I’m still soaking in all that closeness the Ergo provides. PLUS, in winter time keeping baby close to you helps keep them (and YOU) warm!
A fellow adventure mama recommended these to me! If Piper’s not barefoot in the summer time, she’s wearing these! I gave up on baby socks. Typically for colder adventures she wears a pair of wool tights under her capilene layer.
Although I typically use a less expensive organic diaper option for everyday, anytime we go on an adventure (or for night time) I prefer to use Honest Diapers! They don’t leak on me, they hold A LOT of pee, and I trust their brand and what their diapers are made of. PLUS THESE CUTE DESIGNS.
Finding a nursing bra that I liked for adventures took some time… but I ultimately landed on this one! After finding it difficult to velcro each time I fed Piper, I took it to Nordstrom and had it converted to an official nursing bra with a clip. It’s a dream!
So, there you have it! When I think about taking Piper on an adventure, these are the items I don’t leave my house without! There are certainly other things we take depending on the adventure (down bunting or down blanket for coldweather, jogging stroller for running and climbing….) but these are the tried and true items we use ALL THE TIME.
I hope you found it helpful!
